Free virtual counseling for people with cancer

See a psycho-oncology specialist to deal with the emotional side of cancer

Practice areas

Subspecialties

Cancer affects many aspects of our mental and social lives. Some of the problems I address are below.

Isolation

Being treated for cancer often means that your life becomes between home and the hospital. Talking to me even just once a week can help.

Scan-Related Anxiety

Seem impossible to keep your wits with a scan coming up? I can show you some ways to cope.

Depression

The entire cancer ordeal can easily propel one into depression. Talking to someone can help you start pulling out of the darkness.

Fatigue

Chemo fatigue is one of the hardest aspects of cancer treatment. A counselor can help you maintain activity despite having little energy.

Caregiver Burnout

Looking after someone with cancer can be physically and mentally taxing. Talking about the situation can help you recharge.

End-of-Life Anxiety

The problem of all problems — what does death mean? Is it to be feared or embraced? Thinking aloud on the issue can help you work through it.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Do you accept insurance?

No, unfortunately.

There’s nothing mentally wrong with me. Why should I see a counselor?

Cancer is an enormous stressor. It can benefit anyone to talk about how it has affected their life and mental health.

How do the virtual sessions work?

They are done over Zoom. You do not need to download the Zoom app or have a Zoom account, however.

What are your hours?

First appointment: 10 am. Last appointment: 8 pm. Pacific Time, 7 days a week.

Is it really free?

Yes. The current offer is 3 free Zoom sessions of 50 minutes each. Additional sessions can be purchased for $20 USD. There is no obligation to buy a session.

Why should I see you and not a licensed counselor?

I have 9 months of full-time study in counseling, specifically focusing on cancer-related issues. Cancer (psycho-oncology) is a rare speciality in the counseling field. Additionally, I care deeply about people and have a well-rounded knowledge of psychotherapy.

Who is eligible to be a client?

Anyone diagnosed with cancer, including those who have completed treatment or are cured. Families and caregivers of people with cancer are also welcome. Topics of discussion must be related to cancer and not be about politics, divisive social subjects, etc.
